Shrunken Head - The finishing touches.

Here's, sooner than expected, the video detailing the painting, hairing and finishing of the shrunken head. That thing looks great in a bell jar on my dresser! Now I'm bored. I need to find something else to make! More pictures after the break.

Making a Shrunken Head - Partie Deux

Hello again, here is the second part of the process of making latex shrunken heads. In this video, I'll go through the whole molding and casting process. In a couple days, I should have a video detailing the painting & finishing of the head up and running.

Enjoy!

Tsantsa sculpture timelapse

Hey there peeps!

I just finished the sculpture to make a new batch of shrunken heads. I decided to try making a timelapse video of the process, in hopes that you'll find it interesting. It's anotated with a few tips here and there. It's sped up around 1600%, so the whole process, which took a bit over 3h, is now down to 12 minutes.

Soon enough, I'll post one of the molding process.

The Lady ParaNorma

Here's a beautiful, spooky short by Vincent Marcone, featuring Peter Murphy as the narrator, and music by Janine White.

The mix of live action, 2D, and 3D animation gives quite an interesting look to this short, which evolves around a strange, solitary woman, haunted by the voices of the dead.

Weathering Tips with Adam Savage

I thought you guys might find this interesting;

The folks at tested.com made this video with Adam Savage of mythbuster fame, where he shows tips and tricks for weathering a wooden box, based on his many years of experience in the model making and special effects industry.

Why Don't We Taxidermy Humans

The good folks at V Sauce present a very interesting short video in which they explains different ways by which a human corpse could be preserved, and the legal and technical reasons preventing the taxidermy of human beings.

It is a must watch for anyone interested in what happens post death. Also, if you go on youtube, in the description of the videos, there is a cornucopia of links about the different subjects addressed in the video.

Good to pass an hour or two of your time!

Hominid

A short, creepy animation by Brian Andrews based on his series of photo composites mixing human and animal parts.

I love how the shading of the characters so closely ressemble diaphonized animal specimens, a chemical process which stains the skeleton and makes the flesh transparent.

Amazing Robotic Dress

From Youtube:
"Exploration within the realms of robotic dresses; a spider dress gave birth. A cute little host creature created by fashiontech designer ANOUK WIPPRECHT and hacker & engineer DANIEL SCHATZMAYR - A prototype of a mechanic dress equipped with sensors indicators and controllers, created with the aim to give more power and 'psychological thrills' to the sugar sweet character that performative wearables often have. Sensoric, servo controlled, mechanic, microcontroller based and reacting//attacking upon approach, inspired by the game LIMBO. "

The Girl & The Siren

After almost a year of work, Jacob Petersson & Cristoffer Ålund finally finised their short stop motion film, The Girl & The Siren. Being a big fan of Jacob's work and an animation student, you can probably guess I was excited to see this film finally online!

Settle down with a nice cup of black tea, watch that beautiful film, and go like their facebook page.

Antique mermaid-making methods revealed!

For those of you who are interested in the Feejee Mermaid and such critters, be aware that scientists at St George's University and Horniman Museum in London have "inflicted" a battery of tests and scans on a few hundred years old antique japanese "mermaid". The results of this investigation is seen in a short & sweet video, with explanations of the methods use by these craftsmen of old.

Bob the Scientologist

ARGH! MORE VIDEOS???

Yup. Shot this with my buddy Mitch a couple of months ago; I just got around recording the narration and making the music. If I'm not too lazy, I'll put english subtitles on that bugger. Until then, just enjoy the handsome gent that is Bob the Scientologist.

To those who may be offended (probably only scientologists will be, but I digress.), this movie wasn't made to make fun of scientology in itself, but was rather inspired by a gentleman of around 25-30 years old who spends his days distributing scientology pamphlets near my flat. He is an always smiling, alwas well dressed, always friendly fellow, but seems a bit naïve and overly optimistic in general. And he's DAMN persistent. Not that it is a problem, but it made me inspired.

Treachery at lunchtime

Ok, I know, not another video link! But guess what? That's the last "creative" thing I did, other than a bit of writing for another project, thus endure. It's because I love you and you'll thank me when you'r older.

Imagined, shot and edited in one day.

While we're on videos...

Here is a video I discovered via a friend's facebook page yesterday. I personally loved it and cringed terribly while watching it; reminescent of old italian snuff films. It is very straightforward; a guy maiming himself with a spoon.

Be warned that it is very, VERY disturbing. I mean it. It is gross, unhealthy, wrong in oh so many ways, and gory as hell. Please don't watch it if you just ate, plan to eat, or do not enjoy gratuitous violence and extreme gore.

The sentinel - a video

The always incredible Tom Banwell has posted a video of one of his most popular creations, The Sentinel, in action on youtube. The video itself isn't particularly interesting, but what is interesting is to see the texture, feel, weight and fit of this creation; something harder to gauge in pictures.

The Music of Erich Zann

From the youtube description:
"Die Musik des Erich Zann (original german title)
A stop motion movie based loosely based on H.P.Lovecraft's novel.
Creepy and with a lot of atmosphere made by Anna Gawrilow at www.trickfilmnoir.de"
A nice, creepy short indeed. I enjoyed it very much, even though the fact that they replaced Zann's viol by a piano. It is still very fitting, in my opinion, however, and let's keep in mind that it is described by being only loosely based on Lovecraft's short story.

Wow... just... wow.

Amazing, hot guitar duel between Stochelo Rosenberg and Eric Vaarzon Morel. If you enjoy flamenco guitar, gispy guitar, or simply amazing displays of virtuosity, take a look. It's crazy.
